At about 1:05 a.m., Surrey RCMP received several 911 calls from residents in the area of the 14100-block of 75 Avenue. Callers reported a group of people assaulting one man and there was a large amount of blood at the scene.

When officers arrived on scene they found the man who was suffering from a number of slashes on his body that were caused by being struck multiple times by the weapon. Police say the victim was bleeding quite extensively. He was transported to hospital by ambulance where he was treated for his non-life-threatening injuries. He is now listed in stable condition.

Police say the victim knew at least one of the assailants, and may have arranged a meeting with one of them.
