CALGARY – Police have laid charges in connection to a New Year’s Eve shooting in Acadia.

A man in his early 30’s sustained serious, potentially life-threatening injuries to his torso after being shot while in his backyard, in the 400 block of Athlone Road S.E.

The 33-year-old victim was rushed to hospital where he remains in stable condition.

On Wednesday, police arrested 19-year-old Chayce Anthony Krause, charging him with attempted murder.

He will remain in custody until his court appearance on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014.

Police say the shooting isn’t considered to be a random attack and is alleged to have stemmed from a disagreement.

Investigators believe the victim had being texting with the suspect before the incident, and had arraigned to meet him outside where he was shot with a shotgun.
