TORONTO – Mayor Rob Ford’s debut on an American sports talk radio show began with him denying allegations he offered thousands of dollars and a car to get back a video appearing to show him smoking crack cocaine.

“Number one, that’s an outright lie. Number two, you can talk to my lawyers about it. But I’m here to talk football guys. So if you want to talk football, I’ll talk football. If you want to talk about other things, unfortunately I’m going to have to let you go,” said Ford Thursday morning.

The allegations were part of newly released court documents containing wiretaps which also suggest Ford met and bought drugs from people who had photographs of him “on the pipe” and “doing the hezzah,” a slang for heroine.

The mayor agreed to appear on the Washington D.C.-based “The Sports Junkies” radio show on a weekly basis to make NFL picks.

“I think he’s an interesting figure. We all know he’s a big sports fan and a fan of the Redskins we just learned,” said 106.7 The Fan’s program director Chris Kinard in an interview with Global News on Wednesday.

”D.C. is full of interesting political figures and we thought it would be fun to have him on the show to do a little something different, so we invited him,” he said.

A lawyer for Ford calls the latest allegations “hearsay” and says the mayor doesn’t need to comment on them because he was never recorded in any of the wiretaps.
