Over the Edge is your one and only opportunity to rappel in the heart of Downtown Hamilton. Make your childhood dreams of being a superhero a reality as you rappel 26 storeys down Hamilton’s tallest commercial building — all in support Big Brothers Big Sisters! You can register as an individual, a team, or pool together and nominate a participant. Only 76 spots are available.

EVENT DATE

Thursday June 1, 2017 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (NOTE: Rappel spots will be booked once a minimum $800 fundraising goal is achieved.)

INCLEMENT WEATHER DATE

In case of inclement weather on our scheduled event date, please reserve Friday June 2, 2017 for your rescheduled rappel.

RAPPEL SITE

100 King Street West is Hamilton’s tallest commercial building, standing at 26 storeys, 103 meters or 338 feet tall! The rappel site is in the heart of Downtown Hamilton, attached to Jackson Square.

HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?

Raise pledges:

Each rappeller must raise a minimum of $1,000 in pledges to participate. (Once you have raised $800 in pledges, you are eligible to schedule your rappel time slot. See “booking your rappel time slot” below).

Rappel:

You can register as an individual, a team, or pool together and nominate a participant. Anyone who is 12-years of age or older and weighs between 100 and 300 pounds is able to participate.

YOUR SAFETY IS OUR #1 PRIORITY!

Over the Edge is 100% safe! The staff at Over the Edge have hosted hundreds of rappelling events with tens of thousands of participants, and a 100% safety record. Before each participant rappels, they are trained and coached by professional Over the Edge staff. Over the Edge is a third-party company that provides all technical aspects for the event including insurance, professional staff, industrial equipment and a comprehensive site safety and building inspection preceding the event.

Every dollar you raise is an investment in our “BIG PICTURE!” and youth. At Big Brothers Big Sisters, our “big picture” is to ensure that each child in need of a mentor has the support and guidance necessary for a happy and productive future. Our work is as elementary as adding friendship to a child’s life, yet its effects can last forever. BOOKING YOUR RAPPEL TIME SPOT

We are able to book your rappel spot once you have reached the $800 fundraising level. Rappel time slots are secured with the understanding that the participant reaches the $1,000 minimum fundraising goal by the event date.
Participants who have fundraised but have not yet reached $800 one week prior to event date will be asked to secure their slot by putting down a deposit* for the difference.
If you have not raised a significant pledge amount one month out of the event, you may have your rappel spot re-allocated to an individual on our waitlist.
If you are fundraising offline, please enter these donations on your fundraising webpage. Big Brothers Big Sisters must receive offline donations prior to booking your rappel time.

*The deposit will be refunded to the participant once BBBSHB has received the difference in pledges

MATCHING GIFTS PROGRAM

One of the easiest ways to maximize your fundraising is through your employers Matching Gift Program. A matching gift is a charitable gift made toward a non-profit organization by a matching donor, such as an employer. For example, if you pledge yourself $50, your employer may match that. In some cases, your employer will match pledges you raise. For example, if you raise $500 in pledges, your employer may match that.
