In response to the government’s bill C-18, Meta has announced they are in the process of ending news access for all Facebook, Instagram, and Threads users in Canada. When asked about his thoughts on the matter Tuesday, Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre blamed Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for trying to censor Canadians, comparing the move to George Orwell’s dystopian science fiction novel, ‘1984’.
