A former Surrey mayor and the man responsible for the starting the city's transition to a municipal police force is applauding the province's decision to order Surrey to move away from the RCMP. In a Wed. July 19, 2023 press conference, Doug McCallum called the decision a "huge" and "historic" announcement.
