Montreal steps in to purchase rooming house as part of efforts to ease housing crisis

The City of Montreal has swooped in to acquire a rooming house in the Sud-Ouest borough before it could be sold to a private entity. It’s something city officials are doing more and more by using the right of first refusal. As Global’s Dan Spector explains, the move allows the city to keep rents low.
