Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Wednesday called Meta’s decision to block Canadian content on its Facebook and Instagram platforms, “bullying.” The federal government announced earlier that it was pulling its ad campaigns off those platforms. Meta said it made its decision to block the content after the federal government recently passed its Online News Act that required social media companies to start paying for news content.
