Wildfires in Canada: Federal government has ‘a great deal more work to do’, Blair says

Emergency Preparedness Minister Bill Blair faced questions Thursday from opposing party leaders in the House of Commons, about how the federal government will aid provinces struggling with ongoing wildfires. Though Blair said they are “mobilizing the resources Nova Scotia needs,” he revealed 2.7 million hectares of forest have been lost to fires “this season” and admitted the government has “a great deal more work to do.”
