Brownsville, Texas Police Chief Felix Sauceda said on Monday that the vehicle which hit multiple migrants waiting at a bus stop outside a shelter on Sunday had ran a red light and lost control before it struck multiple people. Eight people died as a result. However, asked if they had ruled it out as intentional, he said they were still investigating. Sauceda also said that the driver of the vehicle attempted to flee the scene after the incident but was “held down” by several individuals at the scene and later taken into custody. He said it was determined the man had an “extensive wrap sheet” and has been formally charged with eight counts of manslaughter and 10 counts of aggravated assault.
