Transportation Minister Omar Alghabra announced on Monday proposed changes to the air passenger rights framework put in place in an effort to respond to a backlog of complaints by travellers. Among the changes, compensation by airlines would be made mandatory in the case of a delay or cancellation except for a “narrow” list of exceptions. It would also establish standards of treatment, requiring airlines to provide things such as food and water for all disruptions.
