Mass protests broke out in Israel on Sunday evening after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired his defence minister, a day after Yoav Gallant called for a halt to the planned overhaul of Israel’s judiciary. Several thousand demonstrators blocked a main highway in Tel Aviv while university students have announced a proposed strike for Monday morning.
