Speaking to journalists on Thursday, campus police said that the 43-year-old Anthony Dwayne McRae, the gunman who killed three students at Michigan State University (MSU) and wounded five others, carried a note with him, suggesting a possible motive behind the shooting. “It appears based on the content of the note that he felt that he was slighted in some way by people or businesses. Did a mental health issue amplify that or was it a component of that? We’re not sure at this point,” MSU campus police deputy chief Chris Rozman said.
