Scientists baffled after part of the sun breaks free, forms strange vortex

Scientists have been left baffled yet excited after a huge filament of solar plasma broke free from the sun last week, forming a “massive polar vortex” over the north pole of our solar system’s star, according to one space weather forecaster. It’s the first time such a vortex has been observed.
