Concerns grow for children with special needs as provincial government changes model to deliver services

No consultation and no transparency–that’s what many parents of children with special needs are saying about the province’s plans to centralize support services in four B.C. communities including Kelowna. As we told you earlier this week–the decision is forcing the closure of the Starbright Children’s Development Centre after 57 years. It will instead be replaced by a pilot family connections centre-one some are calling an experiment at the expense of children already in a vulnerable state. Klaudia Van Emmerik reports.
