‘Our hearts are heavy’: Nelson officials identify police officers involved in fatal avalanche

Nelson Police Chief Donovan Fisher and Nelson Mayor Janice Morrison identify the two off-duty police officers involved in the fatal avalanche in the Goat Range Provincial Park near Kaslo, B.C., on Mon., Jan. 9, 2023. The officers were skiing in the backcountry at the time of the avalanche. One officer died and another was critically injured when they were swept down the mountain.
