Answering questions about Indigenous healing at James Smith Cree Nation on Monday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that the federal government would not impose top-down approaches to building community programs or facilities. “That’s the kind of colonialism that broke this system,” Trudeau said. “We need to be there to do the slow but essential work of building capacity to answer those questions.”
