Author and Associate Professor at the University of Saskatchewan Benjamin Hoy discussed the inspiration behind his award-winning book on Tuesday. Hoy said the news came unexpected and he hopes his work will open a chapter of Canadian history that is often ignored. Hoy’s novel is titled “A Line of Blood and Dirt: Creating the Canada-United States Border Across Indigenous Lands” and will be awarded the 2022 Governor General’s History Award for Scholarly Research.
