Democratic Attorney General Maura Healey has been declared the projected winner in the race for governor of Massachusetts. Her campaign makes history, as she would be the state’s first woman and first openly gay candidate elected to the office and the first gay governor in U.S. history. “I stand before you tonight proud to be the first woman and the first gay person ever elected governor of Massachusetts,” Healey told supporters afterward.
