Jessie Melba, senior interpretive guide at Wanuskewin Heritage Park near Saskatoon, recalled her experience discovering the new male bison on Friday. Melba said bison births are rare in the fall season but phenomena are known to occur at Wanuskewin Heritage Park, such as bison being birthed on Mother’s Day, Earth Day, and Red Dress Day. This particular birth occurred on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation making the young bison’s presence extra-ordinary.
