Defence Minister Anita Anand defended the speed at which Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members were deployed to Atlantic Canada in response to post-tropical storm Fiona, after she said 700 were now in the region—an increase from approximately 450 earlier this week. She said CAF support had been planned for before the storm hit, but they were ensuring they had members on hand to “fill the tasks that were being requested.”
