NASA’s DART spacecraft has successfully collided with an asteroid called Dimorphos on Monday, in an unprecedented dress rehearsal for the day an asteroid truly threatens Earth. As a test of NASA’s ability to defend our planet against future asteroids and other Earth-bound debris, it will offer scientists a way to measure the effectiveness of the collision.
