NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau were in Nunavut on Thursday, touring Canada’s Arctic defences and meeting with local residents as the country comes under pressure to defend the north. Trudeau said he acknowledges that as the world is faced “with new geopolitical threats,” the Arctic becomes “more and more important,” and added that the federal government would continue to keep investing in science and defence to protect the region.
