During a special event in which NASA revealed the first five images taken by the James Webb Space Telescope, scientists unveiled an image of the “Southern Ring” planetary nebula. A NASA astronomer said the planetary nebula was caused by a dying start “that has expelled a large fraction of its mass in successive waves.”
