On May 21 a wild storm, a derecho, swept through southern Ontario and into Quebec. Along with loss of human life and severe residential and rural property damage, it wreaked havoc on the trees in the city. The storm left so much damage that two and a half weeks later, the impact is still being assessed. Teresa Kaszuba checked in with the City of Peterborough's Urban Forest Manager, Leighanne Howard, to see how significant this damage really is on the canopy of mature trees in this region.
