Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland said Monday during a post-budget announcement in Montreal that the federal government is committed to doubling new home starts in Canada over 10 years, but added that the housing shortage would not be solved “overnight.” She talked about the difficulty many young people face when trying to buy a home, calling it an “intergenerational injustice.”
