Germany says ‘holistic approach’ needed to improve EU migration policies following emergency meeting

Germany’s Interior Minister Stephan Mayer said on Sunday that a “holistic approach” was needed to improve Europe’s migration policies, and stressed the need to “work harder” on Europe’s external borders to screen migrants. Mayer made the comments following a meeting in Calais, France, with his French, Belgian and Dutch counterparts on the issue of migration after 27 migrants died while trying to cross the Channel from France to the U.K.
