State Department spokesperson Ned Price said on Friday that teams of U.S. and international air traffic experts have assessed Hamid Karzai International Airport to help facilitate a “smooth transfer” once the U.S. completes evacuations on Aug. 31, but cautioned that it would be “unreasonable” to expect normal airport operations to resume on Sept. 1.
