A 39-year-old man reportedly set himself on fire outside Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Wednesday afternoon. Police say two officers and paramedics were at the hospital for an unrelated matter when a man engulfed in flames started running towards the emergency department entrance. The officers and EMS used fire extinguishers to put out the fire before the man entered the building. He was transferred to a Toronto hospital for treatment of his injuries. A witness says they saw the man get out of a vehicle on Hospital Drive and douse himself in a fuel and lit himself on fire. Police say there is not evidence of the incident being criminal in nature.
