Haiti’s prime minister to lead country until election following president’s assassination: UN

The United Nations special envoy for Haiti, Helen La Lime, said on Thursday that Prime Minister Claude Joseph will lead the Caribbean nation until an election is held later this year, urging all parties to set aside differences following the assassination of President Jovenel Moise. Moise’s death has generated confusion about who is the legitimate leader of the country, which shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic.
