Fleming College has announced that it is cancelling its usual Canada Day festivities.
Instead, the school is asking its student body to take time to reflect on Canada’s Indigenous community and the nation’s history.
President Maureen Adamson says the move was made following the grim discovery of the remains of 215 children in an unmarked burial site at a former residential school.
She spoke with Global News Morning Peterborough about the decision.
