Outer bands of Tropical Depression Claudette hit parts of North Carolina

The National Weather Service warned of surges of heavy downpours and severe storms as the remnants of Tropical Depression Claudette moved across central North Carolina on June 20. Claudette was downgraded to a depression from a tropical storm on June 19, but was forecast to re-intensify into a tropical storm by June 21, prompting warnings of heavy rains and possible flash flooding.
