Japan PM says safe Olympics possible with COVID-19 countermeasures

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said on Friday it was still possible to host the Tokyo Olympics safely, as Japan extended a state of emergency for Tokyo and other areas due to a rise in COVID-19 cases. “First of all, I want to make all efforts to prevent the spread of infections,” he said, adding that Olympics organizers were considering a series of anti-virus measures including daily COVID-19 testing for athletes.
