Minnesota police shooting of Daunte Wright was due to ‘accidental discharge,’ officials say

Brooklyn Center, Minn. police chief Tim Gannon said on Monday that the officer-involved shooting of Daunte Wright, a Black man who died following a traffic stop Sunday, was due to an “accidental discharge.” Gannon said based on audio and video in body-camera footage, he believed the officer had been reaching for her Taser but instead pulled her gun and shot Wright with a single bullet. He said the officer has been placed on administrative leave.
