Freeland says COVID-19 has created ‘window of political opportunity’ to address national child care

Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland hinted further at the possible inclusion of a national childcare program in her upcoming federal budget, saying she believes the COVID-19 pandemic has “created a window of political opportunity" for such a program. Freeland, who is also the deputy prime minister, made the comments at the Liberal National Convention Thursday and added that creating such a program would also help strengthen the Canadian economy.
