Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), on Monday said that as of Sunday there had been 699 cases of COVID-19 variants confirmed across 34 states, with 690 of the cases being the B.1.1.7 variant first reported in the U.K.
