Coronavirus: Travel ban over Brazilian COVID-19 variant precautionary, U.K. transport minister says

British Transport Minister Grant Shapps said on Friday that a Brazilian variant of the coronavirus is significant enough to justify stopping flights from South America as a precaution. Britain’s government has banned travel from South America and Portugal to ensure the new variant doesn’t derail the country’s vaccination program, although there are no signs the variant has reached the U.K.
