Erin O’Toole says residential schools created to ‘provide education’ but became ‘horrible’

In a video posted to Facebook by Ryerson Conservatives, Conservative Party of Canada Leader Erin O’Toole said residential schools were created to “try and provide education,” and that the program became “horrible.” O’Toole was discussing the controversy surrounding Egerton Ryerson, founder of Ryerson University, over his role in the creation of residential schools in Canada.
