Alberta banning police carding, street checks getting new rules

Minister of Justice and Solicitor General Kaycee Madu said the Alberta government is banning the police practice of carding — which is police randomly requesting personal information from citizens — and creating new rules for street checks, in which there are specific reasons for officers to be speaking to a member of the public. The new rules take effect immediately and include more reviews of the collected data.
