Alberta chief provincial veterinarian Dr. Keith Lehman said so far, there is little increased risk of H1N2v swine flu transmission to other herds and explained how prevalent this strain of influenza is among pigs in Alberta. He also said compared to other strains that can have devastating effects on a herd, H1N2v presents relatively mild symptoms but in rare cases can cause a pregnant sow to miscarry.
