The Kremlin on Thursday rejected accusations that the Russian government had been responsible for the poisoning of noted Russian opposition politician Alexei Navalny, after German Chancellor Angela Merkel said it was determined he had been poisoned with a Soviet-style Novichok nerve agent in an attempt to murder him. Russia also said it saw no grounds for sanctions to be imposed as a result of what happened to Navalny.
