Coronavirus: Canadian health officials warn of potential “fall peak” of COVID-19

Canada’s chief public health officer Dr. Theresa Tam said on Thursday that officials were planning for multiple scenarios of the coronavirus pandemic, including the worst scenario which would see a “fall peak” of cases followed by ongoing “peaks and valleys” later this year. During an update on modelling predictions Friday, Tam said that based on data up to Aug. 8, the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 could be between 121,650 to 127,740 by Aug. 23. Tam also said the range of total deaths by the same date would be between 8,980 to 9,115.
