Washington D.C. NFL franchise retires controversial ‘Redskins’ name, logo

Washington, D.C.’s NFL team on Monday said it has retired its controversial “Redskins” name and its logo amid ongoing calls due to many considering it racist and offensive to Native Americans. After sponsor FedEx, whose name is on the team’s stadium, pressed the team to make the change, as well as pressure from others like Nike and Pepsi, the company announced the retirement, but a new name has not yet been released.
