On Friday, an Ontario Superior Court judge found a Toronto police officer guilty of assault in the 2016 beating of Dafonte Miller, a young Black man. After the verdict was delivered, Toronto Police Chief Mark Saunders said that there will be further investigations into Michael Theriault’s conduct, including a professional standards investigation.
