Traffic was stalled almost two hours in Northumberland County on Sunday, after a transport truck caught fire on Hwy. 401. The Alnwick-Haldimand Township Fire department responded to the call around 4 p.m., close to Percy Street in Colborne.
According to the driver, he was travelling down the highway when he started to see smoke and pulled over.
When crews arrived, the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Thick black smoke could be seen from several metres away.
Crews were able to put out the fire safely.
