Toronto Mayor John Tory said on Monday he supports the city’s board of health to ask Dr. Eileen de Villa, the city’s medical officer of health, to provide recommendations on the 2021 budget and the COVID-19 recovery plan on re-prioritizing the city’s resources towards better addressing the social determinants of health including, specifically the focus on anti-Black racism within the community.
