Coronavirus outbreak: U.K. to address why COVID-19 disproportionately affects Black, minority groups

U.K.’s Health Secretary Matt Hancock said on Tuesday that the U.K. has a lot of work to do to understand why COVID-19 is disproportionately affecting Black and minority ethnic minorities, after a report by Public Health England showed that England’s Black and Asian peoples are up to 50% more likely to die after becoming infected with COVID-19 than other communities. He added “this is a particularly timely publication because people across the world are angry about racial injustice and I get that, Black Lives Matter.”
