George Floyd death: Minneapolis councillor says community feels like ‘there was a knee on our collective necks’

Minneapolis city council vice-president and councillor Andrea Jenkins on Thursday addressed the death of George Floyd, saying that the black community throughout America “feel as if there was a knee on all of our collective necks.” Floyd died on Monday in Minneapolis after an officer knelt on his neck for several minutes until he became unresponsive. She also called on the mayor and colleagues to declare a state of emergency, declaring racism as a public health issue.
