Trump on removing military support from Saudi Arabia: ‘We protect countries that don’t respect us’

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the United States has been protecting countries “that don’t respect us, and in some cases they don’t even like us,” after he was asked about removing anti-missile systems from Saudi Arabia during his meeting with Gov. of Texas Greg Abbot in Washington. Reuters reports that Trump called Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on April 2 and told him that if the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) started cutting oil production, he would be powerless to stop lawmakers from passing legislation to withdraw U.S. troops from the kingdom.
