On May 1, the Trudeau government appointed Tiff Macklem as Governor of the Bank of Canada for a seven-year term, effective June 3rd, 2020. Speaking to reporters outside Rideau Cottage in Ottawa on Monday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was asked why, having previously championed diversity in many of his appointments and hires, chose another while male for the post.
